What Options do You Have in Relation to Hail Damage Repair?

When it comes to hail damage, there are a few ways to make repairs. While it might seem like damage done to your car from hail is extreme, in reality, most damage can be fixed relatively easily. Below, we have listed a few more ways that hail damage can be repaired.

  • Old School: It should be noted that this method of hail damage repair is not the best for vehicles with certain kinds of dents and thinner metal. With this method, repairmen use an oxyacetylene torch to heat the metal around the dent. Working from the outside in, the heated torch raises the metal, allowing workers to slightly hammer the affected piece back into place. Once the dent has been properly raised again, a file is used on the metal to remove any damaged paint and a fresh layer of paint is then added. While this method is not as popular when it comes to newer vehicles, it works great for older model vehicles that utilized thicker metal in their designs.
  • Paintless Dent Repair: Paintless dent repair, or PDR as it is more commonly known, is an increasingly popular method of dent removal. During this process, repairmen get behind the dent with tools and gently massage the affected area without the need to paint the exterior of the vehicle. This method is excellent for dents that are not too deep and can greatly cut down on the amount of time it takes to repair a vehicle that has been affected by hail damage. This is a popular method of dent removal for quarter panels, however, this method requires specialized tools that are not always available at every repair shop.
